What to expect at Wellford Medical Clinics

Thank you for considering Wellford Medical Clinics. We understand that starting medical cannabis treatment can feel like a big decision. Our process is designed to be thorough, safe and straightforward, so you know exactly what to expect from application to prescription.

Step 1

Register and Complete Your Application

Begin by creating your secure account on the Wellford Patient App. This is where you manage your care, upload documents, book appointments and receive updates from the clinic.

After creating your account, you must complete the onboarding tasks and provide your Summary of Care Record before your application can be reviewed by the clinic.

Once you have created an account you will need to complete your onboarding tasks:

These tasks must be completed before we can review your application.

  1. Select your indication
    Choose the main condition you are seeking treatment for.
  2. Complete the eligibility form
    This helps our clinical tram confirm whether medical cannabis may be appropriate for you
  3. Add your current address
    This should be your current place of residence.
  4. Upload photo ID
    A driving licence, passport, or ID card is acceptable.
  5. Enter your GP practice
    You can search for this in the form, or look it up online first if you are unsure of the name of the practice.
  6. Upload medical documents
    This can include evidence of diagnosis, previous treatments and your Summary of Care Record if you have it.

To assess eligibility safely, our clinicians require a copy of your NHS Summary of Care Record at the time of application. This includes:

  • Medical history
  • Current and past prescribed medications
  • Allergies and adverse reactions
  • Significant medical or surgical procedures
  • Relevant hospital information

You can:

  • Upload a copy yourself to the medical document task if you have this already
  • Request your record from your GP and share this with us, or
  • Ask us to obtain it from your GP for £19.99

If you are not eligible after review, the £19.99 fee is refunded.

Once your tasks and SCR are received, our clinical team reviews your information. No further action is required from you during this stage.

Step 2

Consultation and Clinical Review (£50)

If eligible, you will be invited to book a 30-minute remote consultation with one of our specialist doctors.

During your consultation:

  • Your medical history is reviewed in detail
  • Your symptoms and treatment goals are discussed
  • You can ask questions
  • Potential treatment options are explained clearly

Following your consultation, your case is reviewed by our Multidisciplinary Team in line with UK prescribing guidelines.

If approved, your prescription is issued and sent to our partner Newgrove Pharmacy.

Appointments must be paid in advance to confirm booking.

Step 3

Payment and Home Delivery

Once you are accepted as a patient, you will receive your prescription through the app:

  • The pharmacy contacts you via the Wellford App
  • You receive a secure payment link
  • After payment, your medication is dispatched. Delivery is discreet and will arrive the next working day if payment is made before 1pm

Please note: medication costs are separate from consultation fees.

Step 4

Ongoing Care and Follow-Up

Safe and effective prescribing requires ongoing review.

Follow-Up Appointments: £50

  • First follow-up around 4 weeks after your initial prescription
  • Further reviews typically every 3 or 6 months unless otherwise agreed

Repeat Prescription Administrative Fee: £20

Repeat prescriptions can only be issued once required follow-up appointments have taken place.

Consultation and Clinical Review (£50)

If eligible based on your medical history, you will be invited to book a 30-minute remote consultation with one of our specialist doctors. This is a great opportunity to ask your specialist any questions about your condition and treatment plan.

Payment and Home Delivery

Once you are accepted as a patient, you will receive your prescription through the app. Your treatment will be dispensed through Newgrove Pharmacy. If payment is made before 1pm, your prescription will be delivered the next working day.

Ongoing Care and Follow-Up

Safe and effective prescribing requires ongoing review. Following your initial consultation, a 4 week follow-up to ensure everything is going smoothly. Following this, you will undergo reviews every 3 to 6 months.
