How it works
What to expect at Wellford Medical Clinics
Thank you for considering Wellford Medical Clinics. We understand that starting medical cannabis treatment can feel like a big decision. Our process is designed to be thorough, safe and straightforward, so you know exactly what to expect from application to prescription.
Step 1
Take Our Eligibility Check and Register
Complete our quick 30-second eligibility check. If you appear suitable for treatment, you will be able to register with Wellford.
Please answer the questions honestly and accurately. If incorrect information is provided and an appointment is booked, we may be unable to offer a refund if you are later found to be unsuitable for treatment.
Step 2
Book An Appointment (£20) And Provide Consent For Us To Review Your Medical Records
After registering with us, you will be able to book and pay for an appointment at a time that suits you. Once you have booked an appointment you will be asked to provide consent for us to review your medical records. This includes providing information about your GP so we can contact them.
If you are not eligible following this review, and the information you have provided is correct, our Patient Care Team will contact you and your appointment will be refunded.
Summary of Care Record (SCR)
To assess eligibility safely, our clinicians require a copy of your medical records through your NHS Summary of Care Record before your appointment. This includes:
- Medical history
- Current and past prescribed medications
- Allergies and adverse reactions
- Significant medical or surgical procedures
- Relevant hospital information
After your medical records have been reviewed you will be advised if you are eligible and your appointment confirmed. If you answered the eligibility questions accurately but are still not eligible, your appointment fee will be refunded.
Step 3
Your Appointment and Prescription
When we’ve received your Summary of Care Record, we will confirm your consultation booking and you will be asked to download the Wellford app so that your appointment can take place securely.
During your appointment:
- Your medical history is reviewed in detail
- Your symptoms and treatment goals are discussed
- You can ask questions
- Potential treatment options are explained clearly
Following your consultation, your case is reviewed by our Multidisciplinary Team in line with UK prescribing guidelines.
If approved, your prescription is issued and sent to our partner Newgrove Pharmacy.
Step 4
Payment and Home Delivery
Once you are accepted as a patient, you will receive your prescription through the app:
- The pharmacy contacts you via the Wellford App
- You receive a secure payment link
- After payment, your medication is dispatched. Delivery is discreet and will arrive the next working day if payment is made before 1pm
Please note: medication costs are separate from consultation fees.
1
Register and Complete Your Application
Begin by registering online and booking your first appointment. All patients require their Summary of Care Record from their GP before appointments are confirmed. If you don’t have this, we can request this on your behalf.
2
Consultation and Clinical Review (£20)
If eligible based on your medical history, your 30-minute remote consultation with one of our specialist doctors will be confirmed. This is a great opportunity to ask your specialist any questions about your condition and treatment plan.
3
Payment and Home Delivery
Once you are accepted as a patient, you will receive your prescription through the app. Your treatment will be dispensed through Newgrove Pharmacy. If payment is made before 1pm, your prescription will be delivered the next working day.
4
Ongoing Care and Follow-Up
Safe and effective prescribing requires ongoing review. Following your initial consultation, a 4 week follow-up to ensure everything is going smoothly. Following this, you will undergo reviews every 3 to 6 months.
