Dr Catherine James

MBBS FRCA FFPMRCA

Dr James is a Consultant in Chronic Pain and Anaesthesia. Her NHS practice is at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, where she is clinical lead and provides a comprehensive pain service for chronic pain patients.

Dr James graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1998 working in both Medicine and Surgery followed by an A/E post on Australia’s Gold Coast. In 2000, she began specialist training in anaesthesia in the St George’s School of ​Anaesthesia. She undertook advanced pain training at the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Princess Roya Hospital in Hayward’s Heath. Dr James gained a Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. She has an interest in Fibromyalgia and cancer pain, taking an individual holistic approach to managing pain.

Dr James regularly lectures at the University of Surrey. She is also an anaesthetist and has regular anaesthesia sessions in gynaecological oncology.
